Robotics & Automation
Robotics and Automation are always looked upon with a modicum of fear. There is no argument that industry is facing a large workforce shortage, and there is concern that robotics and automation will fill the gap. OMIC R&D’s robotics research is focused on finding robotic and automation solutions for the jobs that represent the three D’s Dirty, Dangerous and Dull. Our training and employment efforts need to focus on empowering workers to gain high end skills and become lifelong learners. Let automation solutions do the work that is dangerous and boring and have employees focus on more rewarding work. A skilled worker can assess their manufacturing space to identify problems and to take advantage of opportunities. A skilled, reasoning employee is always going to be more valuable than a robot. But even for the skilled worker, robotics can be valuable. With the aid of Cobots, or Cooperative Robots, that same skilled worker can have their effectiveness greatly enhanced. Cobot research and development plays a large roll in OMIC R&Ds applied robotic research. Cobots are extremely safe, and act as a force modifier in support of a skilled manufacturing workforce.
