Don Hendrickson

Don was named Interim Executive Director of Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center on May 1st, 2024.  His goal is to continue the OMIC R&D primary objective of promoting applied research in manufacturing through collaborative efforts with industry, academia, government, and philanthropic organizations.  Prior to his new OMIC role Don served as the non-voting Chair of the OMIC Board of Governors since 2020.  Don was part of the original group of industry and academic leaders that established OMIC, based on a model in Sheffield, UK, the Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (AMRC) sponsored by the University of Sheffield.

Don was employed by The Boeing Company for 34 years before his retirement in 2020.  During Don’s Boeing career he served in key leadership positions in Finance, Business Operations, Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing at the Boeing Portland manufacturing facility.  Don served as the Boeing Executive Focal to Portland State University and on the PSU School of Business Advisory Board.  He also served on the MIME School of Engineering Advisory Board at Oregon State University.  Boeing also assigned Don to coordinate the 2018 opening of Boeing’s first manufacturing facility in Europe, Boeing Sheffield, which was situated near the campus of the AMRC.

Don received a B.A. in Political Science from Western Washington University and an Executive MBA from the University of Oregon.  In his free time Don enjoys travel and outdoor activities with his wife Carole and spending time with their three grown children.
