Industrial manufacturers are facing their greatest challenges since Henry Ford introduced mass production in 1908. The use of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, including the Internet of things (IoT), is what’s called the Smart Factory. Metals manufacturers and their suppliers have to address new challenges, such as reducing metal fatigue, to be able to design and produce safer, more durable products and parts, especially for industries such as aerospace and ground transportation.
